Gasparilla Skittles

Hey all!

So today I have something that isn't super in character for me. But in celebration of Gasparilla Pirate Fest tomorrow in Tampa, Fl, I went a little nuts. You can learn a little more about Gasparilla here.

I won't get into all the polishes that I used because there are just so many!

So here is the breakdown of what each nail is supposed to be...
Thumb: Jolly Roger
Index: Pirate with eye patch
Middle: It is actually red with black stripes, representing pirate pants
Ring: The open ocean
Pinkie: A treasure chest with gold coins and a pearl necklace

What do you think? Are you going to Gasparilla or have you heard of the insanity that happens here once a year?

Sinful Colors Savage & Pink Forever- Interlocking Dots Mani

Hey all!

So last night I was feeling ambitious and attempted a gradient manicure. But, for whatever reason, the colors just were not cooperating so I went with another favorite of mine: Interlocking Dots.

There manis were so popular on Pintrest for a little while and I saw another on Instagram today while I was surfing the app. These manis are so easy to do but look super complicated.

I used two Sinful Colors polishes that you can get about anywhere for $1.99. Savage is the blue and Forever Pink is well...the pink lol. Forever Pink is really a PeptoBismol pink and Savage dries with the "rubber" finish. (Which looks really cool on its own, without topcoat.)  And the only real problem I had with his mani is the brush for Savage left some lines in the wet polish... But they are not horribly noticeable. So I left them be.

Isn't it cute! I just hope it wears well today so it can last a short shift at work, on the register! (Tap, tap, tap...)

I have been playing with idea of doing some tutorials and maybe this will be my first. Should I make it a video or still picture tutorial?

Double Bubble Bubblegum blue and Color Club Snowflakies

Hello all!

I hope everyone is doing well as we are almost at Hump Day. I have my NOTD to share with you, and I know I missed a mani from yesterday, but I think I am going to wait and share it when my nails are more naked.

A few months back I went to Big Lots and picked up a 6 set of polish that doesn't have a brand on the box and the only labeling says Double Bubble Bubblegum. The colors are simply labled by their scent. Yes, thats right, each polish smells (somewhat) like the color of Double Bubble Bubblegum they are made to represent!

The blue (Cotton Candy) was standing out to me, so I polished it on. And what to ya know- it has the smallest him of white shimmer to it! But it was still a little too plain for my brain. So I grabbed a polish that became a favorite that taught me to love flakie polish. Color Club Snowflakies. Which I will post a bottle shot of below, once I get one taken. lol
SO without the further ado...

 photo 008_zps445da148.jpg

It is so pretty IRL, that I am leaving it on even though I have tipwear after today's housework. :)

The flakies are super hard to capture in the awful kitchen light, but it was just cold enough here that I didn' want to get completely dressed to go out to the deck. I know- I'm lazy.

Any requests for colors or styles?

See you soon

China Glaze Ruby Pumps and getting Whirled Away

Hey all!

So for whatever reason, my brain was craving red... Not a color I normally wear, but I have some untrieds that I grabbed on clearace at Sally's Beauty after the holidays. So this mani has an under coat of Color Club's Winter Affair red- Berry and Bright. It is actually a scented polish as well! I can't pinpont the scent exctly, but it is sweet and very pleasing. It can also be detected under all the layers of polish I covered it with.

Next up came China Glaze Ruby Pumps. This polish has been a lemming of mine. I saw swatches of it everywhere and just fell in love with the color, but because I don't normallly wear red-- I never picked it up until it came in the Winter Collection set. And let me just say, I LOVE this color. The only reason I put another color under it, is I didn't know just how sheer it was and I knew the glitter topper was going to be super thick to work with.

I was right too. Whirled Away from China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil collection. I have been craving a black glitter that I have seen everywhere, but this is not the one to get. The glitter is super sparse and hard to work with. The large white hex glitters in it are not coming out on the brush and I had to go hunting for them with my dotting tool. -_-; But I love the completed look and I think it was work the trouble.

The other new experiment I played with is squared nails. I don't think they will last the night though as I keep catching the corners on everything, especially at work. So maybe I will try some sqovals but I may have to stick to ovals from here on out...

See you soon!

Rimmel Caramel Cupcake and Hearts

Hello all,

So I guess my brain is seriously over dark fall/winter colors and is craving the spring time already. Or perhaps I have just needed a palate clenser of more nutral manis before the neons and other craziness that is the spring and summer collections kick in. Either way, I have another toned down NOTD that I did today actually.. Eh, eh Blogging regularly!!  I CAN do it.

Anywho... This is Rimmel London Caramel Cupcake and the little hearts are made using the afore mentioned Migi Nail Art pens. I am loving these things. But I had a whoopsie with the pink and unscrewed the cap when I should have simply pulled the top off... -_-;

On the lucky side of things, I guess saving the lizard that was trapped in a tub earlier in the week paid off-- because all the pink polish spilled on the paper towel/tin foil combo I always polish on. :) So Karma or Good Planning- you decide!

Anyway on to the nails!

So this is taken in the crappy lighting at my desk with a ball of leftover yarn from previous knitting projects. :)

This is much more true to color, I am so suprised at how well this color goes with my skin tone. I thought it would maybe be too dark, but it seems to be working out.

The Rimmel London came in a little bottle, but I picked it up for $1.99 or so at Walgreeens the other day. The brush is short with curved bristles a-la-Sally Hansen Inta-Dri but I found both the formula and the brush easy to work with. This is two coats with top coat. :)

Comments? Maybe?

See you soon

Resolutions? Pssshh Who needs Resolutions?

Hello Readers,

Sorry I have taken such a long vacation from the blog. The holidays from Halloween on have just been insane. But, my world is getting back on track and my work schedule should be getting more regular, so the blogging shall (hopefully) be getting more regular.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. I was able to go home to visit my parents and had a wonderful time. Work is going well and I currently have around 10 dog training classes going on so I am up to my neck in puppies, teaching and smelling like dog treats. No necessacarily a bad thing by any means, but it is exhausting.

But I have been (trying) to keep up with my nails and I will be back posting my manis as the time goes on. But today I have a mani that came into being thanks to my Grandma.

I had a birthday a week or so ago and she mailed me a set of Migi Nail Art Pens. Now, these things are amazing so far. Check out their website here. They offer a "free" refill programs that just requires you to pay $3.99 for shipping/handling and register your set. Not too shabby if you ask me. :)

This is the set my Grandma purchased. It is the silver set on the Migi website.
Photobucket
This is the mani I created with the White, Yellow and Green nail polishes from the set. The base is Sinful Colors...Mauve I believe, but I am way to lazy to walk up the stairs right now to find out. lol

Sorry for any tip wear, I did them last night and worked all afternoon.

Take care. Be safe. and let's hope I stick to my resolution to BLOG REGULARLY. lol

China Glaze Pelican Grey and an Epic Fail

Hello all!

So on this very rainy afternoon I decided to try an experiment. I remember from a while ago, a mani that had a plaid or woven kind of pattern and I was in the mood to give it a shot. I used China Glaze Pelican Grey as a base and then used some acrylic craft paint to try and replicate the design.

Needless to say is was a disaster. I have very little competency drawing or writing with my left hand, so my right hand's mani came out awful. Luckily, one of the best reasons to use acrylic paint for a mani is you can always scrub it off of the regular nail polish you have on! So now I have little, but very pretty grey nubbin nails. lol

Photobucket
The left hand didn't come out too bad!

Photobucket
Just a few weird lines.

Photobucket
The right hand looks so awful!

Photobucket
This is going to take some serious practice!

Is there anyone out there that actually paint well with their less dominant hand?

See you soon!
